Helene begins teaching Fall 2017!
Helene is excited and honored to be teaching violin with Kaleidoscope Academy. She wanted to play the violin from age 7, but she had to wait until she was 12 to begin lessons on the instrument. Good things are worth the wait and after tackling 6 years in the practice room, Helene entered Whitworth University as a Violin Performance major under the instruction of Dr. Philip Baldwin.
Previously she had studied with Suzuki teachers Janet Button and Jan Coleman and participated in Cascade Youth Symphony Orchestra. She graduated from Whitworth University in May of 2016 with her Bachelor of Arts in Violin Performance. Although her focused study in college was Violin Performance, Helene extended her musical studies with String Pedagogy and Advanced Violin Pedagogy. Her main teaching curriculum is the Suzuki Method, but she is not opposed to supplementing with other methods. As a teacher, Helene emphasizes proper technique, strong tone, and confident performing.
Helene has performed with Whitworth Chamber ensembles, Whitworth Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared in two side by side concerts with the Coeur D’Alene Symphony Orchestra. Currently she serves part-time as worship leader at North Seattle Church of the Nazarene where she first developed her love for Jesus and worship music.
Violin is one of Helene’s greatest passions and she enjoys performing for anyone who will listen. In her free time, Helene laughs with her friends, goes hiking, and swing dances whenever she gets the chance. Fiddle music is close to Helene’s heart and she is always up for a spontaneous jam session wherever she can find one.
